Here are some more simple ways to make your house look its best for showings without spending much money.  If you missed last week's blog, check it out to see how to add curb appeal to your house for sale.

1. A Nice Entryway
Impress buyers right off the bat with a beautiful entrance. Think about things such as adding a fresh coat of paint to the front door.  Door handles are also a first impression.  When we went through our house before we bought it the first thing I noticed was the chipped and weathered door handle on the front door.  It didn't stop us from buying the house but I could see how many potential buyers could see a door handle in poor repair as a bad first impression.  And, of course, the day we bought the house was the day that door handle was replaced.  

If you have a nice entryway make sure the space is used appropriately.  A simple bench and/or a coat rack or coat hooks is very fitting. And if you don't have an entrance at all consider "creating" one. This can be done by cleverly placing furniture, such as a console table, to create more of an entryway.

Update those Fixtures:
In a way fixtures are like the jewelry of a house.  Most people probably won't inspect the hardware or doorknobs, lights or faucets but they do subconsciously notice it.  It might be the one thing that sets apart one house in the buyers mind from another but they may not be able to pinpoint it exactly.   Consider updating a fixture that may be out of place or not matching the rest.  For example, in our house there was a cheap gold light fixture above the kitchen but a nice updated fan in the living room that you could see from the kitchen.  For less than $100 we were able to replace the kitchen fixture to match the other updated fixture and it looked so much nicer.
